Did the New York Yankees make the right decision by allowing Juan Soto to sign with the New York Mets

Well, allowing might be putting things lightly.

The Yankees gave their best effort to keep Soto around and clearly wanted him.

Did Yankees make right decision on Juan Soto?

Regardless, some believe that allowing Soto to walk was the right decision, as the Yankees now have the flexibility to go out and make other moves in the future. Whether they want to get in the mix for somebody like Kyle Tucker or another free agent in the foreseeable future, the Yankees now have the money to do so.

However, if the Yankees were to consider bringing Soto back, which might not seem likely, it doesn't sound like the front office would be interested in doing so. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees or Mets wouldn't consider doing a do-over after the Mets poached him for the biggest deal in MLB history.

"Since the Yankees and Mets were both better with Juan Soto in The Bronx, I asked Yankees officials if they’d consider a do-over and take Soto back in trade. The answer: No. (The Mets probably wouldn’t trade him, anyway.)," Heyman wrote.

"The Yankees may not be entirely over the rejection. But the answer I got was: Nobody is taking that contract."

It's questionable why Heyman had these thoughts, but it's also fair in a sense, considering some Mets fans have expressed frustration with Soto's performance.

To say Soto has been bad by any means would be unfair, but when a player signs a deal for nearly $800 million, there aren't realistically any numbers he can put up unless he's prime Barry Bonds that would satisfy most.
