Yankees Wild Card roster: Full 26-man postseason list makes big decisions to face Red Sox image

The New York Yankees are ready for their AL Wild Card series. It'll be the latest chapter in the historic rivalry against the Boston Red Sox.

It's only a best-of-three series, so every roster decision counts as these teams try and advance in the postseason.

The Yankees had some key decisions to make.

One of them: J.C. Escarra is on the roster as the third catcher, providing some late-game flexibility to Aaron Boone.

The Yankees are also keeping Will Warren on the roster but not Luis Gil. Warren will pitch in relief, while Gil is held out after throwing 79 pitches on Sunday.

New York is lined up to start Max Fried, Carlos Rodon and Cam Schlittler in the three game series.

The Yankees also opted against keeping depth outfielder Austin Slater and lefty pitcher Ryan Yarbrough on the roster.

One key detail to Yankees roster

The Yankees have a ton of flexibility. Of the position players listed above, a bunch could really go under multiple positional groups.

Escarra and Rice can both play the infield. Caballero and Rosario can both play the outfield. Bellinger can play first base as well as outfield.

Boone will have the chance to move guys around to his heart's content.
