The New York Yankees are currently 45-32 and holding on to a two-and-a-half game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the American League East.
The Yankees have one of the most balanced teams in Major League Baseball, sporting a top 5 offense, pitching staff and defense.
While the team is well-rounded, New York is searching for a utility man to play anywhere in a pinch and provide quality at-bats.
Ryan Garcia of Empire Sports Media suggested the Yankees kick the tires on a versatile switch-hitter whom they once had interest in.
Minnesota Twins All-Star utility man Willi Castro has had a nice campaign and would be a solid bat for the Yankees.
Castro, 28, is in his third season with the Twins and having one of the best seasons of his career.

Castro has seven home runs and 17 RBI while slashing .280/.362/.456 in 56 games. He has played all outfield positions and every infield position but first base.
“Sporting a 133 wRC+ and 1.0 WAR across 56 games, Castro has proven to be a valuable piece due to his bat and versatility, providing quality at-bats with tons of pull-side power,” wrote Garcia. “Adding someone of his ilk would both boost the starting lineup and the bench, and we could be looking at the best fit for this infield in a market devoid of reliable options.”
Given that Castro is a free agent after this season, Castro could be moved if the Twins are sellers. Sources say the Yankees had interest in Castro in the offseason, but the two sides never came to an agreement, per Garcia.
With the Yankees backups struggling, Castro could be a steal at a low price.
