The New York Yankees ended the first half on a low note, losing two out of three games to the Chicago Cubs. A recent rough stretch has also left them two games out in the American League East.
The Toronto Blue Jays went on a surge and took the top spot, while the Boston Red Sox are right behind them. The Yankees will need to turn things around in the second half to stay on pace.
New York needs pitching help and a solution at third base as the trade deadline approaches, but there is one piece that they could add without even making a trade.
According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Bronx Bombers have shown interest in a reunion with free agent reliever David Robertson.
"Several teams, including the New York Mets and New York Yankees, have at least recently looked into Robertson, league sources said. Multiple teams expect to attend one of his throwing sessions within the next week," Sammon reported.

Robertson spent the 2024 season with the Texas Rangers. He went 3-4 with a 3.00 ERA in 68 appearances and also recorded two saves.
The 40-year-old right-hander has had two separate stints with the Yankees. His first stint began in 2008, and he helped the Yankees win their most recent World Series title the following year.
Robertson has also pitched for the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Mets and Miami Marlins.
For his career, he owns a 2.91 ERA. The right-hander was an All-Star back in 2011.
Adding Robertson would give the Yankees an elite arm at the back end of their bullpen to set up both Luke Weaver and Devin Williams. We'll see if they end up making a signing.
