Yankees predicted to make blockbuster trade for $15.5 million two-time All-Star ace to complete super rotation, counter Blue Jays' Dylan Cease deal image

The New York Yankees were brutally defeated in the 2025 ALDS by the Toronto Blue Jays, and just got one-upped by them in the offseason when they signed Dylan Cease to a mega deal. Now, it’s time for them to make a move to counter.

Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter believes that move is completing their super rotation by trading for Milwaukee Brewers two-time All-Star ace Freddy Peralta.

The trade would look like this:

Yankees get: RHP Freddy Peralta

Brewers get: RHP Carlos Lagrange, RHP Bryce Cunningham, RHP Cade Smith

“With Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón and Clarke Schmidt all expected to open the year on the injured list, the Yankees will be in the market for starting pitching help. They could look more for stopgap help, but swinging for the fences with a blockbuster deal to acquire Freddy Peralta would give them a rotation that stacks up to any in baseball once everyone is healthy,” Reuter wrote.

This past season, Peralta posted a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, 204 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.075 over 176 innings pitched. This would give the Yanks rotation that, when fully healthy, consists of Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Peralta, and Cam Schlittler. That’s arguably the best rotation in baseball, aside from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

If the Yankees want to contend, but also keep their payroll down, this is the move to make. Getting a two-time All-Star ace for less than $16 million per year is an amazing move. Hopefully, they realize that and get to work.
