Matt Carpenter spent only 47 games with the New York Yankees, but he left a lasting impression.

The 14-year veteran announced his retirement from Major League Baseball on Wednesday morning, and Yankees fans will certainly look back on his 2022 season fondly.

The former St. Louis Cardinals infielder announced his retirement during an appearance on the Sports Spectrum podcast.

Carpenter spent a chunk of the 2022 season in The Bronx, and it was a magical run. At the time, the 36-year-old hit .305 with 15 home runs, 37 RBI and a 1.138 OPS across 154 plate appearances.

Carpenter spent the majority of his MLB career with the Cardinals where he collected 159 career home runs and a .812 OPS.

Carpenter was a three-time All-Star selection and earned a Silver Slugger award in 2013.
