Yankees officially lose 8 players to free agency image

TL;DR

  • * The New York Yankees have eight players entering free agency after the World Series conclusion.
  • * Notable free agents include Trent Grisham and potential Hall of Famer Paul Goldschmidt.
  • * Luke Weaver and Devin Williams, former strong relievers, are also on the list.
  • * The Yankees face decisions with limited roster space for incoming players.

Free agency is here.

The World Series is officially over, which means players hit the open market and are free to sign anywhere. For the New York Yankees, that means a lot of potential departures.

Major League Baseball released the list of players who have entered free agency on Sunday. The Yankees have eight names on the list.

Those eight players:

  • Paul Blackburn
  • Paul Goldschmidt
  • Trent Grisham
  • Amed Rosario
  • Austin Slater
  • Luke Weaver
  • Devin Williams
  • Ryan Yarbrough

A few of these players probably aren't crucial, but a few are very intriguing.

Grisham is coming off the best season of his career.

Goldschmidt is a possible future Hall of Famer, old now but still an impressive presence.

Weaver and Williams have both been great relievers at various points in their careers, but they aren't necessarily at that level right now.

The Yankees have younger players just about ready to appear in MLB, too. So there isn't a lot of space to go around.

The Yanks will have some decisions to make soon.

The hot stove, and free agent frenzy, are just beginning.
