The New York Yankees will be searching for a first baseman during the offseason, depending on what they want to do with Ben Rice. The ideal situation for the Yankees would be to allow Paul Goldschmidt to either retire or play for a different team, and keep Cody Bellinger around, as well as making Rice a long-term option at the position.
If the Yankees have other plans, there will be a first baseman out there for them to consider, and that player is none other than Pete Alonso of the New York Mets.
All Alonso has done throughout his career is hit home runs with the best of them, which is something the Yankees love.

Is Pete Alonso a Realistic Option for the Yankees?
While it might be a bit of a surprise to see him come from Queens to the Bronx, Jon Heyman of the New York Post believes it's a possibility that Alonso could do just that.
“He’s having an excellent year and can’t receive another qualifying offer. Would the Mets would go long now? Mets, Red Sox, Astros, Rangers, Mariners, Yankees, Angels,” he wrote.
According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Alonso will opt out of his contract, but he didn't specify what he might get in free agency.
If Alonso is looking for $120 million or more, the Yankees might decide to go a different direction. The same could be said for the Mets, as they didn't want to give him much last winter.
“Pete Alonso, Mets, first baseman: This one's a no-brainer. Alonso got $30 million to play this year and will forgo $24 million next year after his fourth career 30-homer, 100-RBI season,’ he wrote.
