The New York Yankees played one of the stranger series of the year against the Houston Astros. New York came out on top, winning 2-of-3 games, but the team also faced some strange umpiring and an even more odd injury to one of their players.
During the final game of the series, Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm left the game early with an injury to both of his knees. Injuring just one knee isn't uncommon, but for both knees to get hurt in the same game, on separate plays, no less, is very odd.
Fortunately, after the game, courtesy of Greg Joyce of The New York Post, Chisholm commented on his injury, providing a two-word message that was confident in the talented Yankee being okay.
Chisholm Says 'We're Good' After Double-Knee Injury Scare
"We just went to check and see if there was any ligament damages or anything like that," Chisholm said, "just to make sure they were good and no tears, no crazy stuff going on. We're good."
Jazz Chisholm Jr. (knees) said he hopes to be back in the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays: “We just went to check and see if there was any ligament damages or anything like that, just to make sure they were good and no tears, no crazy stuff going on. We’re good.”

This update from Chisholm is a good sign. If it were a more serious injury, which issues with both knees would indicate, then he wouldn't have been as confident to say he was good to go.
But his simple two-word message of "we're good" is enough for Yankees fans to feel confident that their superstar second baseman will return to action before long.
He could still miss some time, but compared to a season-ending injury or a lengthy absence that takes him out until the postseason, this update from Chisholm indicates he could be ready to go in short order.

The 27-year-old is having a strong season in New York, as through 108 games he has 28 home runs and 70 RBIs with 26 stolen bases and a .242 batting average and an .838 OPS.
His value to the team is immense, and if he were to miss significant time, it'd be a huge blow for the team. Fortunately, based on his comments postgame, it looks to be that Chisholm is okay and will be good to go.
Aaron Boone could hold him out for a little bit of time as a precaution, but overall, the injury update from Chisholm is a sigh of relief, as losing a talented player such as Chisholm at this point of the year would be a huge blow for the Yankees.
