As the New York Yankees prepare for their offseason, the team's front office must make several key decisions.
It was a dissapointing season in the Bronx, but the offseason provides an opportunity to move forward and improve the Yankees' chances in 2026.
Several players face contract decisions on the Yankees' roster, and one of those players in Cody Bellinger.
Cody Bellinger is predicted to sign with the Mets
This would not go over well with Yankees fans after last year's situation with Juan Soto.
Cody Bellinger has an opt-out in his contract that he's expected to exercise this offseason and test the free agent market. One would think he may want to return to the Bronx because of how generous it is for left-handed hitters, but the New York Mets may give him an offer he can't refuse.
In a recent predictions piece by NJ.com, Cody Bellinger is predicted to sign with the Mets:
"Prediction: Player option not vested, signs with Mets as free agent."
Bellinger hit .272 this year with the Yankees, and added 29 home runs, 98 RBIs, and an OPS of .813 in 152 games. This season marked the third straight season Bellinger has been an above-average hitter (OPS+ over 100).
His agent is Scott Boras, who is notorious for pulling his players out of their current deal in search of a more lucrative contract.
