The New York Yankees are looking to clinch a playoff spot on Tuesday night, with the organization still somewhat in the mix to win the American League East.
It'll take many things to go the Yankees' way over the next few days for them to win the division, sitting two games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays, but they look more than poised to at least make the postseason.
To say this year has been a perfect one for the Yankees would be unfair, but as long as they're in the playoffs and have a shot to win it all, that's all they can ask for at the end of the day. The Yankees will make the postseason once again, barring something drastic happening, and have as good a chance as any team in the American League to do so.
Yankees make Carlos Rodón decision
As the Yankees get ready for the postseason, there will be some difficult decisions to make. That includes one that Aaron Boone already made on Tuesday, with Gary Phillips reporting that the Yankees will start Carlos Rodón on Thursday to give him regular rest for that start and have an extra day for a potential Wild Card Game 2 start.
“Having Carlos Rodón start Thursday puts him on regular rest for that start & gives him an extra day’s rest for a potential Wild Card Game 2 start. #Yankees,” he wrote.

Having pitching when it matters most is the biggest thing in Major League Baseball, something the Yankees are factoring in here.
Rodón has been criticized a bit by Yankees fans, but it's been a bit unwarranted. He owns a 3.04 ERA and has struck out 198 hitters in 189.1 innings. If anything, he's been just as good as anybody should’ve expected when they signed him.
