MLB insider pegs Yankees' rising star for 'enormous raise' this offseason image

The New York Yankees always have a their share of superstars on the roster, with outfielders Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. and designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton.

Even though some may be aging or not performing as they have in the past, the names still make you perk up.

However, one Yankee, who was intended to be a rental to fill a spot, has exceeded all expectations, and has played his way into an exciting offseason free agent market.

Trent Grisham Will Get Paid This Offseason

Amid the big boppers on the Yankees lineup, there's outfielder Trent Grisham, who's spent two years with the Yankees, but has hit below .200 each of the last three years in the MLB.

Grisham began his career with the Milwaukee Brewers for a season before landing with the San Diego Padres for three years. The veteran outfielder produced solid numbers his first three years in the league, hitting around .240 with an OPS around .775, but then he dropped off for the last three years.

Prior to 2025, Grisham was hitting below .200 with an OPS around .650 for three straight years. However, the Yankees' outfielder has turned that around in a big way this season.

Grisham is hitting .238 with an .821 OPS, 33 home runs and 71 RBI. Although the average won't jump off the page, it is much better than his last thee years, and the production of his hits is off the charts.

MLB insider Jon Heyman believes Grisham's 2025 performance will earn him a massive reward this offseason.

"Trent Grisham, 33 homers for $5 million, is one of the better deals going," Heyman wrote, for the New York Post. "As a free agent, he'll get an enormous raise, of course."

The Yankees avoided arbitration in 2025 and agreed on a one-year, $5 million deal with Grisham. However, 33 home runs and 71 RBI, plus two Gold Gloves speaks volumes to teams, and Grisham should expect to have a hot market this offseason for his production.

New York has a crowded outfield with Cody Bellinger's resurgence and their young talent of Jasson Domínguez and Spencer Jones, so Grisham's payday may not come from the Yankees, but there certainly will be teams interested.

The Yankees sit three games up in the American League wild card race and three games back in the AL East, with nine games remaining in the 2025 regular season.
