Yankees’ Max Fried and Carlos Rodon finish in top 10 for AL Cy Young voting image

The New York Yankees got solid production from their starting rotation this past season despite missing Gerrit Cole for the entire year. Now with the season over, the team’s top pitchers are being recognized for their performance.

While neither Max Fried nor Carlos Rodon walked away with the AL Cy Young award — which went to Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal — both received votes and landed in the top 10 in voting.

Max Fried finished fourth in the voting, and Carlos Rodon finished sixth. Fried pitched to a 19-5 record with a 2.86 ERA, and Rodon pitched to a 18-9 record with a 3.09 ERA. Both pitchers were named to the AL All-Star team for their efforts.

After a disastrous first season in the Bronx in 2023, Rodon has turned things around and solidified himself as a mainstay in the Yankees rotation, while Fried was everything he was advertised to be after signing a long-term deal with the Yankees last offseason. With Cole returning to the rotation at some point next season, the Yankees will be equipped with one of the best rotations in baseball when they get back to full strength.
