The New York Yankees earned their third straight win Thursday night, shutting out the Baltimore Orioles 7-0. Austin Wells and Paul Goldschmidt had multi-hit games, combining for four of the Yankees’ nine hits. Giancarlo Stanton and Amed Rosario each drove in two runs, and captain Aaron Judge added another RBI

On the mound, Max Fried delivered a dominant outing, tossing seven scoreless innings on just 87 pitches. The left-hander allowed only three singles and tied his career high with 13 strikeouts. The win was Fried’s 18th of the season, also a career best.

While he has settled in at Yankee Stadium, Fried has been at his best on the road. In 17 road starts this season, he is 11-3 with a 3.28 ERA, building on a career 50-23 record away from home.

After struggling in the weeks following the All-Star break, Fried has returned to form. Over his last six starts, he has allowed three runs or fewer in each outing, including two scoreless appearances. He now leads the majors in wins, carrying a sub-3.00 ERA that ranks 10th overall and fourth among American League starters.

With nine games left in the regular season, the Yankees trail the Toronto Blue Jays by three games in the AL East. Toronto has dropped three straight, giving New York a chance to close the gap.

Fried is expected to make one more start before the postseason against the Chicago White Sox as he looks for his 19th victory and the Yankees aim to improve their playoff position.
