The New York Yankees' primary play-by-play broadcaster, Michael Kay, wasted no time clapping back at New York Mets fans for missing the playoffs.
Kay has made a few radio appearances this week as the Yankees prepare to take on the Boston Red Sox for a highly anticipated wild-card matchup. Kay's time calling Yankees games this season is over, but that doesn't mean he's not going to still be a prominent voice in the media.
Michael Kay goes on strong rant about Mets fans
In a recent mid-day ESPN radio show, Michael Kay did not hold back in his messaging to Mets fans, who he says reached out to him several times during the season, talking about the Yankees being without Soto, the Mets' place in the standings, etc.
“It’s that vicious, angry subset of Met fans that weren’t hugged by their parents, who didn’t have any love in their family, and they just love to pass along hate,” Kay said, via Instagram. “... Those I don’t feel sorry for. I’m gonna tell you a little secret: I feel glee about your pain today because you deserve it."
Around the end of July, Kay notes, is when the Mets were really the loudest, because they were in the middle of a division race at the time with the Phillies, and the Yankees were in an extreme lull.
Michael Kay did the final laugh in the end when mentioning how "the Yankees' plan B worked, and your (Mets) plan A didn't."
He focused primarily on Juan Soto and how the Mets continuously bragged about how the Yankees are missing him mightily, but Kay's tirade comes just a day after the Mets missed the playoffs altogether in one of the most disappointing fashions in the sport.
