New York Mets owner Steve Cohen broke his silence amid the team’s struggles.
The Mets are 3-7 in their last 10 games, but are still holding onto the top NL Wild Card spot. After New York was swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates, which included a 12-1 loss on Sunday, Cohen took to X to send a message to the fans amid the losing skid.
“Tough stretch, no sugarcoating it,” Cohen wrote on X. “I didn’t see this coming. I’m as frustrated as everybody else. We will get through this period. Our injured pitching will come back over the next few weeks. It is unlikely the team’s hitting with RISP will continue at this weak pace. Keep the faith!”
Although New York has fallen out of first place in the NL East, Cohen still has confidence in the group.

Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza, meanwhile, is also confident the team will be able to turn it around.
“We are all frustrated, obviously, not going to lie,” Mendoza said after the 12-1 loss to the Pirates. “We’re better than that, and they know that. It’s a tough stretch, but we’ve got to be better. It starts with me. We believe in those guys.”
New York has gone 12-15 in the month of June, and the Mets are a brutal 19-25 on the road.
The Mets will host the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game series before hosting the New York Yankees over the July 4 weekend for three games to conclude their six-game homestand.
