With Juan Soto in the outfield for the next decade, the New York Mets are hopeful that they can achieve at least one World Series win.

However, for the Mets to do that, they'll need to continue to add other talent.

The Mets are fortunate that they have David Stearns making decisions. Not only is Stearns a great talent evaluator, but he's also done an excellent job in smaller markets before.

With the spending ability he has with the Mets and his draft history, New York should be in an excellent position to continue to improve.

With the MLB draft approaching, Baseball America recently predicted that the Mets would find a steal with the 38th pick. Baseball America predicted that the Mets would land Mason Neville, an outfielder from the University of Oregon.

“Neville has had a tremendous junior season with Oregon and is leading all D-I hitters with 25 home runs. He entered the spring with real questions about his swing decisions but has made strides in that department with a career-best strikeout rate to go with solid speed and a lefthanded-hitting center field profile,” they wrote

Neville is coming off a season where he hit .290 with a 1.152 OPS. Blasting 26 home runs, 16 doubles, and walking 53 times, he was elite in a tough Big Ten Conference.

Neville also impressed in the Pac-12 in 2024, prior to Oregon moving over to the Big Ten.

A 21-year-old from Henderson, Nevada, the Mets could use another bat in the future.

While it's essential to remember that the Mets will have opportunities to make a few trades involving prospects over the next few years, they must draft well in anticipation of those transactions.

The last thing the team wants is a below-average farm system, as that makes things much more difficult.
