New York fans are emotional, and there's no debate about that. New York fans expect the most out of every player that walks through the city, and rightfully so.

New York is built on championships, no matter the team.

For the New York Mets and Juan Soto, despite having an excellent year and still being one of the top-10 hitters in Major League Baseball by a wide margin, some haven't been too happy with his production.

Could Mets' Juan Soto be on the move?

Others have even questioned if the Mets regret their decision to give Soto the richest contract in Major League Baseball history.

It doesn't seem like the Mets would get rid of Soto just yet, but even if they wanted to, Jon Heyman of the New York Post has reported that sources have told him that nobody would touch his contract if the Mets made him available.

"Since the Yankees and Mets were both better with Juan Soto in the Bronx, I asked Yankees officials if they’d consider a do-over and take Soto back in trade. The answer: No. (The Mets probably wouldn’t trade him, anyway.)," Heyman wrote.

"The Yankees may not be entirely over the rejection. But the answer I got was: Nobody is taking that contract."

This might not mean that teams don't want Soto as a player, as he's clearly still very good, but the reality of the situation is that paying a player $700-plus million for the next 14 years isn’t ideal for most teams in baseball.

Outside of the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and a few other teams, most of the league can't come close to offering that type of money to any single player, even if guys like Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge became available right now.
