After one of the most brutal second-half collapses in New York Mets history, it wouldn't be a surprise to see some major changes coming in the offseason.

Player personnel is always in flux, but for the upcoming 2025-2026 offseason, David Stearns and Steve Cohen are expected to make some changes not just with the players but with the coaching staff as well.

According to Andy Martino of SNY.tv, the Mets are expected to make some major changes to the coaching staff this offseason, following the team's disastrous second-half collapse, which resulted in New York missing the postseason.

The Mets are expected to make big changes to the coaching staff this winter

"You should, however, expect notable and perhaps widespread changes to the coaching staff." Martino writes. "This feels like the biggest news to watch in the immediate aftermath."

When the coaching staff comes to mind, the biggest name is that of Carlos Mendoza, the Mets manager. But, multiple reports have indicated that Mendoza is staying in New York and getting another year with the Mets.

Instead, a lot of the other members of the coaching staff could be on their way out. The pitching coaches are definitely ones to monitor, as the Mets' pitching in the second half of the season took a drastic downturn.

Not only were the starters significantly worse in the second half, but so were the relievers, with Ryan Helsley being the most damning failure of the season.

But, regardless of which members of the coaching staff David Stearns and Steven Cohen decide to let go, those changes are expected to be major ones.

The Mets are reevaluating their coaching staff this offseason, and Martino's report indicates that those changes could be some of the first to occur this offseason.

After such a brutal second-half collapse, it's hardly a surprise that the Mets' leadership is planning to make some widespread changes to the organization.

While the Mets can still contend next season with their core, the potential departures of Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz complicate things for the Mets in 2026. Even with the Mets' plans to add talent this winter, there will be a lot of change for the organization by 2026.

Not only is the roster going to look a bit different in 2026, but as Martino reports, there will be some big changes coming for the coaching staff as well.
