Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani continues to redefine Major League Baseball excellence.

Ohtani is on a torrid stretch at the plate, and on Wednesday, MLB Network shared a post to X contextualizing Ohtani’s numbers.

“Shohei Ohtani has homered in three consecutive games and is slashing .325/.429/.803 with 14 HR over his last 29 games,” the post read.

“He leads MLB with 20 HR and is on pace for 59 HR.”

Ohtani’s 20 home runs on the season, achieved in just 55 games, put him on track for 59 homers—a mark that would surpass his previous career high of 54 set in 2024.

Beyond the homers, his overall impact is staggering. He’s driving in runs, scoring at a high clip, and maintaining a disciplined approach at the plate.

While his stolen base numbers (10 so far in 2025) are down from last year’s 50-50 campaign, his focus on power hitting hasn’t diminished his value. As Ohtani continues his rehab from elbow surgery, with plans to return to pitching later this year, his offensive output alone makes him a frontrunner for another MVP award.

Ohtani, 30, is already a three-time MVP. Another MVP trophy would make Ohtani one of only two players in MLB history with four or more MVP’s (Barry Bonds: 7).

Entering Wednesday, the 34-21 Dodgers held a two-game cushion atop the competitive National League West, with Ohtani emerging as the separating factor.
