Dodgers-Red Sox blockbuster trade proposal lands All-Star in LA image

The Los Angeles Dodgers look like they are poised for another deep run in October. However, they have some flaws they need to address near the trade deadline.

The Dodgers' biggest weakness may be in left field, where Michael Conforto has started 51 games. Conforto is slashing .168/.314/.275. The Boston Red Sox are receiving trade interest in All-Star left fielder Jarren Duran. Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer proposed this trade that would bring Duran to Los Angeles.

  • Dodgers receive: outfielder Jarren Duran
  • Red Sox receive: catcher/outfielder Dalton Rushing, left-handed pitcher Jackson Ferris and shortstop Emil Morales

Rushing, Ferris and Morales are three of the best prospects in the Dodgers organization. The Red Sox would acquire three young players and move closer to solving their outfield problem. Duran has played well, but he, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu have been blocking top prospect Roman Anthony from making his debut.

Duran is the oldest of the three and has the least club control, making him the likeliest trade chip. He is hitting .273 with a .742 OPS. He plays good defense and would be a massive upgrade for the Dodgers' offense. He can also change a game with his speed. He leads baseball in triples and led the league with 14 triples last year. Replacing Conforto with Duran would be just the boost the Dodgers' offense needs.

"This is where Duran would fit in, and he could also move into the leadoff spot and bump Shohei Ohtani down to a more traditional RBI spot. The more at-bats he takes with men on base, the better," wrote Rymer. "For Boston, Rushing could fill a fascinating role as a full-time player who works at catcher, first base and the outfield. The other prize would be Ferris, who would promise to bring upside to the 2026 rotation."

An outfield of Duran, Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández could do some serious damage in the postseason. Pair that with the Dodgers trio of Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts and there may be nothing stopping them from winning back-to-back World Series titles. Duran was an All-Star last year, and if the Red Sox fall out of contention, he could be moved.
