The Los Angeles Dodgers have shown they are willing to make splashy moves in order always to stay one step ahead of their competition. They could add an elite arm to their bullpen near the trade deadline.
The Dodgers do not necessarily need a closer. They signed Tanner Scott last offseason, and he has 10 saves this year. Scott has a 3.28 ERA, but the Dodgers do not get many opportunities to use him in save situations. Regardless, he is a big part of their bullpen. When October rolls around, however, there is no such thing as too many high-leverage arms.
ClutchPoints' Garrett Kerman proposed this trade that would bring a closer, Kyle Finegan, to Los Angeles from the Washington Nationals:
- Dodgers receive: Kyle Finnegan
- Nationals receive: Nick Frasso, Josue De Paula and River Ryan
Finnegan is going to be a free agent after the season, so the Dodgers would be overpaying in this proposal. De Paula is the team's No. 2 prospect, and Frasso and Ryan are top 30 prospects as well. Trading three talented, young players for half a season of Finnegan would not be the smartest move.

Finnegan would bring stability to the backend of the bullpen, but the proposed cost is too high. Finnegan would be an elite setup man or give the Dodgers another option at closer. He has a 2.41 ERA and 15 saves this season.
