Dave Roberts sends Aaron Boone message regarding Dodgers, Yankees' playoff pressure image

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are two of the biggest media markets in the MLB, and that comes with the most pressure every year.

The two teams always have all the eyes on them and are near the top of the league with their spending habits each season, which means the expectation is always success.

As both teams are in the playoffs once again, and will play their respective wild card series at home, Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts called on Yankees' manager Aaron Boone when describing the pressure that's on his team.

Dave Roberts Sends Aaron Boone Message

The Yankees and Dodgers are two of the most historic franchises in the MLB. The Dodgers are in the playoffs for their 13th consecutive year and the yankees are in the postseason for the seventh time in the last eight years.

However, Roberts has led the Dodgers to two World Series in the last five years. The Yankees haven't won a World Series since 2009.

"I think Aaron Boone is the only person I feel like I can relate to, with the market, the expectations," Roberts said (h/t USA Today). "You know every night seems almost like a Game 7 with the results, the accountability, the micromanaging.

"If you don't win the World Series, you failed. And that's not like any other job or profession. But to be quite frank, that's the path we've chosen. Pressure is a privilege. I think it’s a good thing."

Roberts feels the pressure, and it only continues to build. The Dodgers were the odds on favorite to win the 2025 World Series coming into the season, and now the pressure heightens as the playoffs begin.

As for Boone and the Yankees, it's been an up and down season. The Yankees manager has found himself on the hot seat a few different times over the last few years, but led his team to the World Series in 2024.

Now, the pressure is on to do so again, and this time come out victorious. Both manager's 2025 postseasons get underway on Tuesday night.
