It might be time.

The Kansas City Royals have a 45-year-old lefty dominating in Triple-A. A promotion could be imminent.

It's no regular midlife-crisis starting pitcher, of course. This is Rich Hill.

Hill signed with the Royals earlier this season as a bit of a lottery ticket. Why not see if the crafty veteran had a few more tricks up his sleeve?

Seems like he does: In his most recent start, Hill struck out 10 batters in five innings for the Omaha Storm Chasers.

He has struck out 60 batters in 48 innings, showing that his stuff still works.

Hill's ERA at Triple-A is 5.44, so he might not be a perfect fix to Kansas City's rotation.

But on the flip side of the coin, why sign Hill just to toil at Triple-A? Get him up to MLB and let him snap off as many of those filthy curveballs as he has left.

There isn't much time to waste when your promising Triple-A pitcher is 45 years old.
