Astros' Taylor Trammell begins rehab assignment, could be activated soon image

On August 20, Houston Astros' Taylor Trammell had to be carted off the field. During a game against the Detroit Tigers, the slugger was tracking a ball in the outfield when he collided with the wall and landed on the 10-day IL.

Trammell was placed on the IL for a cervical muscle strain and a concussion. However, he did resume taking part in full workouts with the club earlier this week and has taken the next step in his recovery.

According to CBS Sports, Trammell began his rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Sugar Land. If all goes well, he could be activated within the next several days.

The Astros are starting to get healthy at the right time

For much of the season, the Astros have dealt with injuries to key contributors on their roster. However, they are starting to get these players back as the regular season dwindles, putting themselves in a great spot to contend for a postseason spot.

Houston most recently saw Yordan Alvarez come off the IL. He had been on the IL for over three months while dealing with a fractured right hand, and already seems in tune as he blasted a home run on Wednesday.

Jake Meyers has started his rehab assignment and is preparing to return soon, alongside Luis Garcia, who is expected to return within the next few days if everything continues to progress as planned. If they can clinch a postseason berth, six-time All-Star Josh Hader could potentially return as well.
