Astros pitcher receives bad prediction regarding postseason image

The Houston Astros have had quite a forgettable season in terms of how many of their players have been injured in the 2025 season.

From Yordan Alvarez to Isaac Parades to now Josh Hader, Houston has turned into a giant emergency room.

However, there is one player that hasn't been near as effective fans were hoping he would be, and that would be starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr.

McCullers is predicted to miss the Astros postseason roster

As of now, the Astros are still atop the AL West and in the playoffs, and if they stay that way, Chris Landers from FanSided doesn't expect the 2017 All-Star to be on the 26-man postseason team.

"It might be time to call this experiment once and for all. After once again failing to be effective (or healthy) as a starter, the Astros decided to pivot McCullers to a bulk relief role," Landers wrote.

"At this point, it's tough to see how Houston could possibly trust the righty enough to turn to him come playoff time. Which is a shame, because once upon a time he was one of the most dynamic young postseason performers in the sport."

Landers makes some good points. Fans likely aren't expecting McCullers to make it to the roster, and why should they?

Yes, the pitcher made his first start since 2022 after injuries plagued his 2023 and 2024 seasons, but since he's made his return, it might have been better for him to sit out this one, too, posting a 2-5 record with a 6.97 ERA, and his relief outings haven't been anything to write home about either.
