The Houston Astros announced a pair of roster moved on Monday morning before releasing their starting lineup for the Labor Day series finale with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Astros officially reinstated right-handed pitcher Luis Garcia from the 60-day injured list, and outfielder Taylor Trammell from the 10-day IL. In a corresponding move, Houston designated infielder Logan Davidson for assignment.

Garcia will take the mound on Monday for the Astros for the first time in more than two years.

Garcia, Trammell Return From Injury

Luis Garcia missed the entire 2024 season and the first five months of 2025 rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The Astros' starter hasn't pitched with the team since May 1, 2023.

However, after nine rehab appearances in the minors, Garcia is ready to make his long-awaited return to Houston. The Astros' starter finished his rehab with a 3.30 ERA across 30 innings. Garcia struck out 38 batters and walked just seven.

The Astros will also welcome back Trammell, who's been out since Aug. 20 after nasty falls in back-to-back games against the Detroit Tigers. After making a circus catch and landing hard on his back on Aug. 19, Trammell crashed into the centerfield wall in the first inning the following day and had to be carted off the field.

The Astros' outfielder dealt with neck and back soreness, and was in the MLB's concussion protocol. Trammell's bat hasn't been too productive for the Astros, hitting just .208 with a .667 OPS, but he's provided strong defense in the outfield, not committing an error on the season.

Trammell won't start on Labor Day, as the Astros outfield will be manned by Mauricio Dubón, Cam Smith and Yordan Alvarez. Houston will look to split the series with Los Angeles after winning the first game and losing the last two.
