Former Houston Astros star third baseman Alex Bregman decided to depart in free agency, taking a three-year deal with opt-outs with the Boston Red Sox. His $120 million deal seems like a lot for only three seasons, but the expectation around Major League Baseball is that Bregman will eventually opt out of that deal, meaning he'll be looking at a contract with less money in the short term but more in the long term.
According to MLB Trade Rumors, Bregman won't have any issue with landing that deal, noting that a few contending teams could be interested. Among the interested squads could be the Los Angeles Dodgers, a team many Astros fans wouldn't want to see Bregman play for.

“Bregman isn’t technically a free agent yet, but barring some form of major injury in the final two months, he’s all but guaranteed to opt out of the remaining two years and $80MM on his contract. He’s not likely to secure another $40MM annual value — though you can argue that he didn’t truly get there anyhow, thanks to deferred money — but topping that remaining $80MM will be no problem...
“Bregman’s market was relatively limited last year as he came off a mixed bag of a season and contended with a qualifying offer. That won’t be the case this time around. The Red Sox will want him back, but the Tigers, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets, Phillies and Mariners could all jump into the fray,” Steve Adams wrote.
In some sense, it'd be surprising to see Bregman play for the Dodgers because of the cheating allegations against the Astros a few years ago.
However, if he wants to play on the West Coast and have an opportunity to win a World Series, Los Angeles might make the most sense out of the bunch.
