If the Detroit Tigers want to make a splash at the deadline, they have more than enough ammo in the farm system to get a deal done.

Frankly, there isn't any reason for the Tigers to get outbid on any player around the league, unless they don't believe said player would be a perfect addition.

According to a recent report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, one of the players the Tigers are interested in is Ke’Bryan Hayes.

Hayes fits the mold of not being a perfect player, and according to Nightengale, there are multiple teams around the league interested in him, including the loaded New York Yankees, a squad that typically find a way to pull moves off.

“The Yankees would love to acquire D-backs third baseman Eugenio Suarez at the deadline and slide Jazz Chisholm back to second base. The Yankees, along with the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs, have also expressed interest in Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes,” he wrote.

The last thing the Tigers want to do is get into a bidding war with teams like the Yankees and Chicago Cubs.

The Yankees are a bit less of a worry in this situation because their farm system is below average, but they badly need a third baseman.

They might be willing to overpay for someone like Hayes, despite him being a bit overrated.

The right-handed hitting infielder has only posted an 88 OPS+ throughout his career and has a 66 OPS+ this season.

If the Tigers want him, they could probably land him, but it's probably better to let the Yankees or the Cubs overpay for his services.
