The Detroit Tigers are in the midst of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins after beating the New York Yankees two out of three in the Bronx.
During the first game of that series, there was a scary incident involving the Tigers' utilityman Javier Baez. Baez appeared to have fouled a ball off his head.

In the second inning of the game, Baez was removed from the game with an injury. The foul ball did not bounce on the ground and hit Baez in the head; it appeared to clip off the bat at a weird angle and hit Baez right above the eye. He was then immediately taken off, and Trey Sweeney will take his place.
Baez appeared to be okay when walking with the trainers, but Detroit will certainly test him for a concussion.
The 32-year-old is in his 12th MLB season, and was named an all-star for the third time this season after a solid first half.
However, his statistical numbers have really averaged out since mid-July, and Javy is now down to an OPS of .685, and he only has 11 home runs.
The $140 million Baez is certainly a crucial player to the Detroit Tigers' formula, and it will be interesting to get a further diagnosis of his injury.
Detroit is having one of the best seasons in franchise history and aims to make a deep playoff run this October. They will wrap up the AL Central here shortly and then have some leeway in what they want to do with some of their important players.
