The Cleveland Guardians are starting to get their ducks in a row with just 10 games remaining in the MLB regular season. Cleveland is the winner of its last seven games, and now sits 2 games back of the final American League Wild Card spot. They are also 3.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers after sweeping them in a three-game set at Comerica Park.

Manager Stephen Vogt deserves a lot of credit for rallying his troops, and the season series between the Guardians and Tigers isn't over, with the two AL Central rivals set to face off next week in Cleveland.

Guardians announce rotation for Twins series

The Guardians are set to open a weekend series with the Minnesota Twins on Friday, and Vogt announced that rookie southpaw Parker Messick will get the start in the series opener.

Messick was called up at the end of August and has been remarkable as a rookie. He's made five starts (going 6+ innings in four of them), posting a 1.84 ERA in 29.1 innings.

Guardians reporter Tim Stebbins disbursed the news that Stephen Vogt said Joey Cantillo will start on Sunday, and Slade Cecconi and Logan Allen will both start in Saturday's doubleheader.

That doubleheader will be crucial for the Guardians' playoff chances, with the Twins attempting to play spoiler.

After the Guardians' four-game set with the Twins, they have just two more series (Tigers & Rangers).

Following the series against the Twins, Cleveland's rotation should turn over, and Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee should be ready to start against the Tigers. It's unclear if those would be the last starts of the season for the two, but regardless, they could use every arm they have in the team's final 10 games.
