The Cleveland Guardians will look to get back in the winning column as they play a red-hot Boston Red Sox team on Tuesday night.
Cleveland is still very much in the postseason race despite having to deal with a multitude of problems in 2025. From betting scandals to being sellers at the MLB trade deadline, the Guardians will look to fight for a playoff spot in the last month of the regular season.
Before their game on Tuesday night, the Guardians were given positive news on outfielder Lane Thomas. The 30-year-old has been on and off the injured list throughout this season.
Lane Thomas set to begin rehab assignment on Tuesday
Thomas has been out of the Guardians' lineup since the Fourth of July with recurring plantar fasciitis in his right foot. The outfielder first went on the injured list in May, returned for less than a month, then was placed back on it in July.
This isn't the only injury Thomas has dealt with this season. He missed a month earlier this year with a bone bruise in his wrist after getting hit by a pitch.
However, the Guardians outfielder is slowly getting healthy again. On Tuesday, Guardians Prospective announced on X that Thomas is set to begin a rehab assignment in Double-A Akron.

The Guardians are hoping to get Thomas inserted back into the lineup to try and help push the team to a postseason spot.
Heading into Tuesday, the Guardians are 10.5 games behind the AL-best Detroit Tigers in their division. But Cleveland has a better chance at earning a Wild Card bid, as they are four games behind the Seattle Mariners for the last spot.
