The Cincinnati Reds just swept the Chicago Cubs, which had to feel good.

But now Reds fans need to turn around and root for the Cubs. It's the best chance to make the playoffs.

That's because for the next three days, beginning Tuesday, the Cubs play the New York Mets.

The Reds hold the third NL Wild Card spot over the Mets just by tiebreaker. The Reds and Mets have exactly the same record.

Since Cincinnati has the tiebreaker, the Reds need to just finish these last six games of the season with the same record as the Mets to get into the playoffs.

If the Mets outplay the Reds by even a single game in this final week, Cincinnati will go home.

The Cubs, who are already clinched into a wild card spot (since the Milwaukee Brewers won the NL Central), don't have as much to play for.

But the Reds will hope Chicago finds some momentum-boosting wins anyway to spoil the Mets' chances.

After three games against the Cubs, the Mets finish the season with a three-game weekend set against the Miami Marlins.

The Reds have to take care of their own business. But as far as scoreboard watching goes, it's all about the Mets.

And for three days, that means Reds fans are Cubs fans. Baseball always keeps things interesting.
