The 2016 season was a dream for the Chicago Cubs and their fanbase. They went on to break their 108-year World Series drought, taking down the Cleveland Guardians in an exciting 4-3 series.

The city of Chicago went absolutely nuts after the win, and the players could not have been happier. They were handed their World Series ring the following year, and many decided to wear it around instead of keeping it somewhere safe.

Wearing jewelry comes with the dangers of it coming off and becoming lost, which is what happened to Anthony Rizzo during a trip to Lake Michigan. Having lost some weight, Rizzo went to wash and then dry his hands off on the boat when the ring flew off and started to sink.

Rizzo quickly phoned the number of Yohei Yamada, a Chicago-based scuba diver, for some assistance. Yamada knew he had his work cut out for himself as he could be looking for a needle in a haystack, given how big Lake Michigan is. He recently spoke about the experience via Block Club Chicago's Mack Liederman

"Rings are the hardest to find," said Yamada.

Yohei Yamada was able to retrieve the World Series ring

To Anthony Rizzo's delight, Yohei Yamada was able to retrieve the World Series ring and return it to its rightful owner. In return, Rizzo handed him a few $100 bills for his troubles.

However, that has not been the only valuable thing the scuba diver has retrieved from the waters. He also recalled a time when he dove in to retrieve a man's $30,000 Rolex watch from the bottom of the water.
