The Chicago Cubs are currently in first place in the National League Central with a 22-16 record entering May 7.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson has been a big part of the lineup seemingly every day. Entering Wednesday, he has a .240 batting average with seven home runs and 20 RBI in his third season with the Cubs. He had spent his entire career with the Atlanta Braves before joining Chicago on a seven-year contract worth $177 million.

On Wednesday, the Swanson family made a big announcement.

His wife, Mallory Swanson, a United States Women's National Soccer Team star, posted on Instagram that the couple is now expecting their first child.

"Our greatest blessing," the caption read.

Mallory Swanson is also a member of the Chicago Stars in the National Women's Soccer League, although she has not played for the Stars this year citing personal reasons.

After the pregnancy announcement, it seems that she will not return to the Stars this season.

Mallory and Dansby have been together since 2017 as a couple and got married in 2022, although this is their first child together.
