Cubs sign 2.25 ERA relief pitcher after MLB Draft image

The Chicago Cubs snagged an extra relief pitcher prospect after the 2025 MLB Draft's conclusion.

On Tuesday, the MLB Draft League announced that Aiden Moffett has signed with the Cubs as an undrafted free agent.

Moffett spent this past season pitching at the University of Texas, although he was hurt for most of the year.

In six appearances with the Longhorns, Moffett had a 2.25 ERA with seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings.

This summer with West Virginia in the MLB Draft League, Moffett has a 2.61 ERA, so he's healthy right now and dealing.

Moffett started his college career with two seasons at LSU. In 2024, he had a 5.60 ERA for the Tigers.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound righty pitched for Yarmouth-Dennis on the Cape last summer and had a 5.54 ERA.

Seems like he's probably continuing to improve, and it's a decent chance for the Cubs to take at pretty much no cost.
