It's very tough to get a feel for what the Chicago Cubs might do with Kyle Tucker.

Of course, keeping some of the top players in Major League Baseball on the Cubs should be in Jed Hoyer's best interest. Still, the Cubs have also made some questionable decisions in the past, and others don't believe they'll go out and spend the money they have to in order to keep a player like Tucker around.

Ultimately, if the Cubs don't, fans might get upset, especially with the team not playing as well as they were hoping for entering the year.

When predicting what might happen with the top free agents on the market, Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report predicted that the Cubs would keep Tucker, noting that this is a big-market team that has to start spending money.

“Given president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer seems to be more on the conservative side of things, it's possible a team like the Yankees comes in and makes an offer the Cubs don't want to match.

“But this is a major-market team that has been criticized for not acting like that in recent years. They need to get this one right,” he wrote.

There are a few things to watch out for in this situation.

Giving Tucker the money he's seeking requires the Cubs to also invest in the rest of the roster. Failing to do so wouldn't make any sense, so Hoyer has to take that into account.

If the idea is to give Tucker all the money he wants and go out and spend on others, it makes perfect sense.

However, if they just want to give Tucker the money he's looking for and not worry about the rest of the roster, this wouldn't be a good plan.
