The Boston Red Sox have won eight of their last ten and have found themselves back above .500. They are 1/2 a game back of a wild card spot in the American League after a sweep of the New York Yankees.

The Yankees lost two of three last weekend to the Red Sox and were swept at Fenway Park this weekend. Before last Sunday's rubber match, Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. posted on X saying that he wants more trash talk in baseball.

"I think there should be more trash talk in baseball!!! Anyone agrees!? Anyway free smoke at 7," Chisholm wrote on X.

The Red Sox won that game 11-7. Chisholm's words came back to bite him today after the Red Sox beat the Yankees 2-0, a week after his post on X. Ceddanne Rafaela's brother, Cezan, posted on X following the Yankees' loss. Chisholm went 1-for-7 in the series.

"Free Smoke," Rafaela posted on X, followed by some emojis, including a laughing one.

Rafaela went 2-for-9 in the series. He is slashing .253/.303/.395 on the season, with six home runs. The Red Sox still have a long way to go, but are turning things around. They have a core of talented, young players that includes Rafaela. They should also be getting Alex Bregman back at some point.

The Red Sox still trail the Yankees by 6 1/2 games in the American League East. The Yankees are still one of the best teams in baseball, but the Red Sox proved that they can compete with them. The biggest achievement by the Red Sox may have been keeping AL MVP frontrunner Aaron Judge under control. Judge went 1-for-12 with nine strikeouts, although his lone hit was a home run off of Garrett Crochet.
