Week 5 PPR Rankings: WR

Week 5 PPR Rankings: WR image

Last week, we asked what happened to the old Jarvis Landry. Apparently he was still in there somewhere, as Landry moves up in our Week 5 WR PPR rankings coming off an eight-catch, 167-yard performance. The only problem is he left the game with a concussion, so while it looked like we'd rediscovered the fantasy weapon that was Landry, his status for Monday night against the 49ers is in doubt. The same is true for T.Y. Hilton, who shapes up for a monster game against the Chiefs if he's healthy but might miss out for the second straight week due to injury.

As we ruminated on last week, it feels like there are fewer PPR-specific receivers than there used to be. Cole Beasley remains a prominent name coming off his seven-catch, 75-yard Week 4, but he might be stuck catching passes from Matt Barkley in Week 5. Christian Kirk looked like he could be a new candidate, but the Cardinals struggled while spreading the ball around against Seattle on Sunday.

WEEK 5 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

There is one old hat who deserves a start in every PPR lineup this week, and that's Julian Edelman. A trip to D.C. to take on the terrible Redskins could mean early-and-often catches for Edelman as he serves the purpose of a de facto running game at times for New England. But let's be honest -- you probably didn't need any urging to start Edelman this week in a PPR league.

WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS: Running backTight end

But there are some interesting borderline start/sit PPR candidates this year, including Jamison Crowder. There's a chance Sam Darnold will be back (and if he is, lock Crowder into your lineup), but even without Darnold, Crowder gets to matchup with an Eagles secondary that's allowing passing games to do whatever they want. Crowder's potentially looking at a seven- or eight-catch day in Week 5. Mohamed Sanu (@ Texans) has also turned into a surprisingly consistent PPR contributor, with at least six targets in all four games of the season.

MORE WEEK 5 DFS: Stacks | Values | Lineup builder

We're more worried about Beasley and Sanu's teammates this week in PPR, though. John Brown relies more on the deep ball for his production, and if Josh Allen can't play, there won't be very many deep passes coming out of Matt Barkley's right hand. And Atlanta just hasn't shown a specific interest in involving Calvin Ridley consistently, so he's a tough pill to swallow in PPR leagues.

WEEK 5 DFS LINEUPS:
Y! cash | Y! GPP | FD cash | FD GPP | DK cash | DK GPP

This week sees former PPR weapon Danny Amendola on bye for the Lions, along with Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. The Dolphins are also off this week, meaning some of you deep-league owners could be missing Preston Williams or DeVante Parker. There should be plenty of options in the rankings below to make up for those absences, though.
