Today's Daily Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Best starting pitchers, streamers for Monday, May 6 image

Six teams are off Monday, but the MLB schedule still has plenty to offer those in season-long fantasy baseball leagues and MLB DFS contests. Not only are there a handful of aces on the mound, but there are also several interesting sleeper/streamer options a little bit further down our daily SP rankings. Of course, many will still pay up for two studs in DraftKings tournaments, but is it worth it?

It might not be considering how tight pricing is at the top -- and when you factor in some of the aces' struggles. Jacob deGrom (vs. Padres) got back on track in his last start, but Max Scherzer (@ Brewers) and Gerrit Cole (vs. Royals) still sport ERAs of at least 3.95. Both have much better advanced numbers, so dominating performances aren't out of the question. But if you're taking one, which is the best option? Scherzer is actually the best value considering he's the SP4 on both sites, but deGrom has a little better matchup in a better park.

Anthony DeSclafani (vs. Giants) and Drew Pomeranz (@ Reds) would both be great matchup plays, but considering they face each other in the only afternoon game, chances are you aren't going to mess with an all-day FanDuel contest. Martin Perez (@ Blue Jays) is quietly a solid sleeper. He offers great value on DK as the third cheapest SP, and he also has a favorable matchup against a Blue Jays offense that doesn't hit lefties particularly well. Perez might be due for a clunker after eight shutout innings in his last start (and six innings of one-run ball before that), but he could just as easily make it three in a row. Miles Mikolas (vs. Phillies) is a major boom-or-bust gamble, and Ivan Nova (vs. Indians) is a sneaky matchup play, though his ceiling is limited by a mediocre K-rate.

As far as stat-based fades, Blake Snell (vs. D-backs)CC Sabathia (vs. Mariners), and Kevin Gausman (@ Dodgers) really stand out. We know Snell can dominate anyone, but he's better suited for tournaments tonight. Sabathia's advanced numbers are far worse than his standard numbers, so this is a prime spot for regression. Be careful if you're playing a contest that includes the early-evening games.

No games look to be in danger of being affected by the weather tonight, but it never hurts to double-check with the Fantasy Alarm Weather Center a half hour before lineup lock.

wRC+ is defined by Fangraphs as "[measuring] how a player’s wRC compares with league average after controlling for park effects. League average for position players is 100, and every point above 100 is a percentage point above league average. For example, a 125 wRC+ means a player created 25% more runs than a league average hitter would have in the same number of plate appearances. Similarly, every point below 100 is a percentage point below league average, so a 80 wRC+ means a player created 20% fewer runs than league average." For more on the stat, click here.
