Sperbeck was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center but doctors reportedly informed his family that he would not recover. He was kept on life support before eventually being officially ruled dead.
Sperbeck worked closely with Elway, 64, even before the legendary quarterback retired in 1998, and handled his football contracts as well as business ventures that took place after he retired. In 2013, the two co-founded a winery based in Napa called 7Cellars. Sperbeck represented more than 100 NFL players over the course of his career and was well respected throughout the league.
Though he was not a high profile figure, it is said that he was a trusted presence behind some of football’s biggest names, such as Elway.
Friends, family, and former clients are now rallying around Sperbeck’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
