In a significant record, India's Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli became the fastest to score 5000 ODI runs as a pair in the ongoing India versus Sri Lanka Super Four fixture of the Asia Cup 2023.

On September 12, Tuesday, Rohit and Virat put on just 10 runs together. However, it was enough to take them to the milestone.

​​​​​The duo achieved the landmark in their 86th innings together, becoming the quickest to do so by overtaking West Indies' Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who took 97 innings to record 5000 ODI runs.

Rohit and Virat have jointly scored 18 hundreds and 15 fifties.They are the eighth pair to achieve this feat with three more Indian batting duos in the list.
