The Los Angeles Dodgers took Game 1 of the NLCS in dramatic fashion, managing to get out of a jam in the bottom of the ninth. Blake Treinen nearly allowed the tying run to score via a hit-by-pitch, but the batter got out of the way.
Now, for Game 2, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is on the mound for the Dodgers, with Freddy Peralta for the Milwaukee Brewers. Los Angeles is a slight favorite, but for this article we will detail our favorite Dodgers vs. Brewers props. There are MLB betting promotions on DraftKings and BetMGM for these wagers.
Dodgers vs. Brewers Props and Best Bets (Game 2)
Dodgers-Brewers Props | Odds |
Freddie Freeman Home Run | +572 on DraftKings |
Brice Turang Home Run | +900 on BetMGM |
Freeman Goes Back-to-Back
Freddie Freeman did hit a home run yesterday, but he had an incredibly impressive day at the plate that we like for him to go back-to-back and homer again tonight. Including the home run he hit, he had an astounding four HardHits in the game yesterday. Even more impressive than that, three of the four had 100+ mph exit velocity, and all four were put in the air.
The home run he hit traveled 362 feet, but he had additional flyouts of 368, 352 and 345 feet. While none of them were sent 400+ feet, of course, it is impressive having four hits in the same game travel 345 or more feet and certainly bodes well for future home run opportunities for Freeman. In general, the Brewers home stadium is hitter-friendly, and there no negative weather concerns as they play in a stadium with a retractable roof.
As far as the matchup goes, Freddy Peralta is a good pitcher, but he has been lit up in both of his playoff starts this year. Through two starts, he has gone 9.2 innings and allowed a HR/9 of 2.79. The guess here is that Freeman stays hot and clears a fence again tonight.
Trust Turang at Long Odds
Part of the play backing Turang has to do with the odds, that are very high at +900. He did strike out twice yesterday, but that was an entirely different matchup going up against Blake Snell. Not only is Snell one of the best pitchers in baseball, but it was also a lefty-on-lefty matchup for Turang, who is much better against righties.
Turang really came on at the end of the season as well. From July 1st and on, he had an ISO rate of .250 against RHP, that jumped up to .307 from August 1st to the end of the regular season. Turang also hit well in the divisional round series against the Cubs, hitting one home run and adding six HardHits total.
While the pitching matchup is certainly less than ideal with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, we did see Yamamoto struggle in his last start against the Phillies, allowing a home run and three earned runs in four innings pitched, with seven total HardHits off him as well. Certainly not what would be defined as a smash matchup, but also worth hitting for +900 odds as well.
