Will Eagles fire Kevin Patullo? OC's seat warms as Philly offense falters yet again in loss to Chargers image

After losing offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles offense has taken a significant step back from its Super Bowl level.

On Monday night, the Eagles’ struggles continued as Jalen Hurts turned the ball over five times in a 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. It marked the sixth time this year Philadelphia has scored fewer than 20 points, and Hurts had what might have been the worst game of his starting career.

Eagles fans have centered their frustration on Kevin Patullo, who took over as offensive coordinator when Moore left for the New Orleans Saints. Patullo has been on the Eagles’ staff since 2021, making him one of Nick Sirianni's most trusted assistants.

Now, Patullo’s seat may be scorching hot amid the Eagles’ three-game losing streak. Here’s a breakdown of the situation.

Will the Eagles fire Kevin Patullo?

Patullo is in his first season as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, and fans have grown frustrated by the team’s step back on offense. It even reached the point where some Eagles fans vandalized Patullo’s home after Philadelphia’s loss last week.

When head coach Nick Sirianni was hired in 2021, he brought Patullo with him as part of his offensive staff. Sirianni likely doesn’t want to fire someone who has been with him for the past five seasons, but he may feel pressure to make a change to spark the offense.

Sirianni reportedly took on more responsibility in the offensive game plan this week, a sign that Patullo’s chances may be dwindling. However, he has not yet committed to moving on from Patullo.

In fact, the Eagles are averaging 125.3 less yards per game this year than last year, which is the largest decrease by a Super Bowl champion in NFL history.

2.Dallas Cowboys6-6-1
3.Washingtonton Commanders3-10

Despite the loss, the Eagles are still in good position to once again win the division, especially with one of the easier remaining schedules in the NFL. Only the Dallas Cowboys can potentially catch Philadelphia, but they would need some help from the WAshington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills in the process.
