Can Bills still win AFC East? Week 15 Patriots showdown looms image

The Buffalo Bills are still alive for both the division and a wildcard spot after a stirring 39-34 win over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Now at 9-4, the Bills have a little momentum heading into Week 15, and they're going to need it.

A road game against the 11-2 New England Patriots is next, with the Bills needing a win in Foxborough to keep the slim hopes of a division title alive.

But let's not overstate how crucial the win over the Bengals was, because as NFL.com's Judy Battista writes, it kept everything alive for Buffalo.

“Their win over the Bengals kept them two games behind the division-leading Patriots with a huge showdown between the two next Sunday,” Battista writes. “Just as importantly, it kept Buffalo firmly in the wild-card field. It doesn't get much better than that for the Bills or football fans.”

Did Bills get lucky vs. Bengals?

Can you score 39 points and be lucky to win a football game? That's quite a conversation starter, but there's no denying that the football gods shone down on Buffalo in the snow.

With just 5:43 left in the fourth quarter, the Bengals were up 28-25 and were driving into Bills territory near the 30-yard line, so field goal range was nearly accomplished, but then Burrow had his pass intercepted and returned for a pick-six.

Then, on the next possession, on the first play, Burrow was intercepted again after his pass was tipped.

So, there was an element of luck to it, but the Bills still had to make it count, and they did.

A monster Week 15 showdown awaits us, folks.
