Most of us know that success isn't linear, and for Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman, the past month has been a tough one.

Having had inconsistent performances and off-field issues, Coleman was disciplined and missed two games as a healthy scratch.

But he made his return in the Bills' 26-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and caught a crucial fourth-down touchdown to go with his two catches for nine yards, so it was a decent return to the team for Coleman.

However, what were Sean McDermott's thoughts on Keon's performance?

"Yeah, that was a big play for us in the game, and sometimes you learn, it's never a straight line success," McDermott said. "It gets kind of messy at times, but those that see it through, that continue to work and take steps in the right direction and persevere, they have a chance to come out of it.

"I saw some signs of some pretty good football, including some of the shorter routes that he ran on some of those slants. So, step in the right direction, like our team, much work to be done for all of us."

Coleman on the comeback trail

Just two catches for nine yards isn't anything to celebrate, but Coleman's touchdown, and as McDermott stated, his routes were also positive.

Playing 33 snaps against the Steelers (45 percent), that was just three fewer than Khalil Shakir, so it wasn't a case of easing Coleman back into action. The Bills now need Coleman to continue his good showing for the rest of the season.

Josh Allen stated post-game that the team is going to need Keon down the stretch, and his touchdown catch was good for the soul, but now he must build on it.

Consistency is the name of the game, and right now, that is the one thing that alludes Coleman.
