Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis has become the first Greek footballer to win the Golden Boy Web award, claiming the 2025 title after finishing well clear in the public vote during Monday’s ceremony in Turin.

The 18-year-old impressed supporters across Europe with his consistency and maturity, earning more than 470,000 votes to secure the trophy ahead of Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız and Milan defender Jan-Carlo Simic.

His victory marks another significant milestone for Olympiacos' academy system, which has produced several highly rated prospects in recent seasons and previously won the UEFA Youth League.

Mouzakitis made the step up to first-team football last year and has since developed into one of the club’s most reliable young performers.

He has already passed the 50-appearance mark for the senior side, contributing to Olympiacos' domestic double and playing a key role in the club's strong showings in Europe.

Those within the club describe him as a midfielder with "unusually advanced decision-making" for his age, combining intelligent positioning with a calmness on the ball that has drawn widespread admiration.

His emergence has not gone unnoticed outside Greece. Real Madrid, Manchester United and AC Milan are among the clubs monitoring his progress, with recruitment departments across Europe regularly tracking his performances.

While Olympiacos are under no pressure to sell, industry valuations have placed the teenager at over £45m, reflecting both his ceiling and the growing demand for elite young midfielders.

Greek football has been experiencing a renewed sense of optimism at youth level, and Mouzakitis' achievement is being seen as further evidence of a rising generation.

Former Olympiacos forward Charalampos Kostoulas also featured in the top 10 of this year's vote, while Konstantinos Karetsas was included among the nominees, signalling broader progress in the Greek development pathway.

The Golden Boy Web award, organised annually by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, has previously gone to players such as Jude Bellingham, Ansu Fati and Karim Adeyemi, names who have since gone on to establish themselves at the highest level of the game.

For Mouzakitis, the honour represents another step in what has already become one of Greek football’s most compelling breakthrough stories.

While for Olympiacos it highlights the club's growing reputation for nurturing players capable of attracting attention across Europe.
