Liechtenstein vs. Wales prediction, lineups, odds, TV and bet builder tips for World Cup qualifier image

Wales are still trying to chase down Belgium and North Macedonia at the top of Group J in UEFA qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Under the management of Craig Bellamy, Wales gained automatic promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League a year ago and have been competitive with Belgium in Group J of WCQ.

They sit four points behind Belgium with two games to go but the Welsh do have one of the easier games in international football here.

In the last 12 to 18 months or so, Liechtenstein have fallen behind the likes of Gibraltar and San Marino and become the weakest side in European international football. They have scored goals with zero points and they have conceded 23 in their six qualifiers thus far.

It is more a question of how many will Wales score to try and keep the pressure up on Belgium? AllSportsPeople brings you this betting preview  complete with the latest tips and odds.

Liechtenstein vs. Wales preview: Who will win?

Liechtenstein are a very bad team. They had perhaps moved into a status of being better than the other minnows about a decade and a half or so ago but they have since endured a very difficult time of it with nothing coming through and no improvement.

Wales will head there knowing that Liechtenstein’s intention will be damage limitation, but Bellamy’s outfit are still expected to run out as comfortable winners.

Head-to-Head: Liechtenstein vs. Wales

  • The two teams have clashed on four occasions and, unsurprisingly, Wales have won all four of those with an aggregate scored of 11-1.
  • The reverse fixture in this qualifying group saw Wales defeat Liechtenstein 3-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium in June, courtesy of goals from Joe Rodon, Harry Wilson, Kieffer Moore.
  • Their first ever clash came in November 2006 with Wales hammering Liechtenstein 4-0 before the Welsh then earned a couple of 2-0 wins in October 2008 and October 2009.

Liechtenstein vs. Wales: Form Guide

  • Kazakhstan 4-0 Liechtenstein (UEFA WCQ)
  • North Macedonia 5-0 Liechtenstein (UEFA WCQ)
  • Liechtenstein 0-6 Belgium (UEFA WCQ)
  • Liechtenstein 0-4 Scotland (Friendly)

Wales – Last 5 Matches (All Competitions)

  • Wales 2-4 Belgium (UEFA WCQ)
  • England 3-0 Wales (Friendly)

Liechtenstein vs. Wales Score Prediction

Liechtenstein became marginally tougher and harder to beat against a very poor Montenegro side in their most recent outing, while Wales have hit a rocky patch at the wrong time through defeats to Canada, England and Belgium.

That said, Wales have remained quite entertaining to watch and they will want to rack themselves up a reasonably good score here, so a comfortable away win is expected.

Prediction: Liechtenstein 0-3 Wales (5/1 with Bet365)

Liechtenstein vs. Wales Team News

Liechtenstein Team News

  • Liechtenstein head into this visit of Wales without 41-cap Dudingen left-back Jens Hofer, as the 28-year-old is missing through suspension.
  • They have a couple of players that have been left out of the squad for this one such as goalkeeper Tim-Tiado Oehri, defender Niklas Beck, midfielder Andrin Netzer and forward Julian Hasler.
  • Their key man remains Balzers attacker Dennis Salanovic and 107-cap midfield captain Nicolas Hasler, of Liechtenstein giants Vaduz.

Wales Team News

  • Craig Bellamy himself will be banned from the touchline for this one and they also have a key absentee due to suspension on the pitch as Harry Wilson is unavailable.
  • Wales do have a few key injury issues as goalkeeper Danny Ward remains sidelined alongside experienced and versatile defender Ben Davies.
  • Davies’ Tottenham Hotspur teammate Brennan Johnson may not have much space to run in behind so there could be a bit more importance on David Brooks’ ingenuity.
