Jose Mourinho began his career with Benfica, and could go full circle with a return to the Portuguese side.
Mourinho's stint at Benfica in 2000 lasted just 10 games, so he has unfinished business at the club.
He then managed Uniao de Leiria before making his name at FC Porto by winning the Champions League.
That victory earned Mourinho the Chelsea job. He went on to manage other top sides, including Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Manchester United.
Football has changed, and Mourinho's pragmatic style of play means the top European jobs are no longer available to him.
Fenerbahce was Mourinho's last job, and he was sacked earlier this season after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho is set to manage Benfica
Clubs outside of Europe's top five leagues will still want to take a chance on Mourinho, and a return to Portugal is on the cards.
CNN Portugal has reported that "Benfica has reached an agreement in principle with José Mourinho to take over as head coach."
Benfica lost 3-2 to the Azerbaijan side Qarabag in the Champions League last night, which cost Bruno Lage his job.
Mourinho's return to Benfica will be huge for Portuguese football, as it will attract a lot of attention to the Primeira Liga.
Benfica is going through its presidential elections, with candidates proposing big-name managers including Jurgen Klopp and Ruben Amorim.
