Stephen A. Smith seemingly has America in the palm of his hand.

The ESPN star made his name as an on-air sports analyst and still calls that his day job, but numerous labels apply to him, from actor and prospective politician to internet meme.

The sky appears to be the limit for Smith, at least in his own eyes, as he continues to branch out beyond the walls of ESPN and turn himself into a national voice on issues both in and out of sports.

Here's a look at Smith's net worth and career earnings, including his lucrative contract at ESPN.

Smith's net worth is an estimated $45 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth

Any prominent ESPN analyst will make plenty of money, but Smith is starting to really see his bank account benefit from his do-it-all role at the network. Smith is making $21 million per year on his newest ESPN contract, which spans five years.

Here's more to know about Smith's current salary and career earnings.

Stephen A. Smith career earnings

Smith's exact career earnings aren't known, but as of 2025, he is believed to be making nearly $40 million annually. The stunning figure comes partly from his five-year, $105 million deal with ESPN, which pays him $21 million annually, and he earns an additional $12 million per year from a three-year contract with SiriusXM.

Once revenue from Smith's podcast and YouTube channel is factored in, the ESPN personality makes close to $40 million per year.

Smith certainly hasn't always made $40 million annually, even if he has long been paid well, so his career earnings are likely skyrocketing.

Stephen A. Smith endorsements and partnerships

While his earnings from sponsorship deals aren't as well-documented as his ESPN or SiriusXM salary, Smith has hammered out a small number of endorsement deals over the years.

Smith signed an exclusive deal with daily fantasy site PrizePicks in 2024, though he began working with ESPN Bet in 2025 after signing a new deal with ESPN. Smith also appeared in several commercials for Oberto Beef Jerky, including ads featuring Richard Sherman, Hunter Pence and Travis Pastrana.

Smith hasn't been as visible on the commercial airwaves in recent years, perhaps because he is so busy with his other ventures, his personality and prominence make him a natural fit for brands seeking a celebrity spokesman.

Smith has his hands in plenty of ventures beyond sports, including acting, public speaking and even some interest in politics.

Smith is a recurring character on "General Hospital," where he plays a security consultant and part-time assassin. Smith has also appeared on "Law & Order."

In 2025, Smith announced he was launching a new two-hour SiriusXM talk show called "Straight Shooter with Stephen A.," with a focus more on politics than sports. He has expressed more of an interest in politics in recent years, even revealing he might consider a presidential run.

Where does Stephen A. Smith live?

Smith has put some of his money to use in the real estate market, as he owns a multi-million dollar home in New Jersey and either has or had a luxury apartment in Manhattan. Smith has also indicated he owns property in or near Los Angeles, though the location is unknown.

Smith's home in North Caldwell, N.J. is 7,232 square feet and includes a home theater as well as a home gym. The entrance to the home is gated off, and the exterior includes a pool and large yard.

Smith also had an apartment in Manhattan as of 2024, but it's unclear whether he still has it. He told Kevin Garnett in 2024 that taxes could drive him out of New York altogether.

"I’m looking for another crib in Florida. So I’m like, you know, I mean about two months from now I might be in Florida," Smith said. "I got to have primary residence. I’m getting murdered in taxes in New York and LA."

Smith might have followed through on his promise, as colleague Chris Russo hinted later the same year that Smith bought a Miami mansion.

"First of all, you don't know what I bought. Number one," Smith said in response. "Number two, I have several residences."

As long as he is making $40 million each year, Smith can likely continue to afford "several residences" across different states.
